An ambitious premise for the second installment of the Starz anthology series ends up producing lukewarm results
On its own, the premise for “The Girlfriend Experience’s” second season is simply thrilling: Co-creators Lodge Kerrigan and Amy Seimetz each took on half of the season’s episode order and made it their own — writing, direction, characters, the works, completely independent of their co-showrunner. The two storylines, “Erica & Anna” (Kerrigan’s) and “Bria” (Seimetz’s) are airing simultaneously, almost on top of each other: Starz will air one episode from “Erica & Anna” and one from “Bria” every Sunday for seven weeks.

I tried Applebee's for the first time to see which menu items were the tastiest. The chicken-tortilla soup was delicious but I wish I got a bigger portion for the price. The quesadilla burger and chocolate meltdown cake were definitely worth ordering again. It was time to try Applebee's for the first time. I went to an Applebee's in Las Vegas. At 169 minutes, “John Wick: Chapter 4” is a whole lot of movie. The two-hour-and-50-minute action extravaganza is powered by nonstop set pieces that are so frenetic and visceral that you’ll hardly realize you’ve been sitting in a movie theater for nearly three hours.
Lil Tjay. Update, Friday, August 26: After addressing his shooting on Instagram, Lil Tjay dropped “Beat the Odds,” his first song since being shot. On it, he raps about his recovery, reiterating that he was hit seven times. “I know they mad wishin’ they had finished me entirely” he says in one line. In another: “How the fuck I’m livin’? All these niggas wan’ fry me.” The song comes with a music video that sees Tjay rapping while in a wheelchair in a hospital, before later getting up to walk on his own.
Last Thursday, my review of Wonder Woman was received with both outrage and ridicule, and reading those reactions, I felt sick. Some of the criticisms were unjust. Lines and descriptions were taken out of context and twisted to mean something they didn’t. People alluded to “leering” where I’d made a point of saying the film rejects the male gaze. You can find plenty of leering over Gal Gadot (and every other actress) elsewhere on the internet — not in my review.
